In Case Anyone is Still with Xanga

They say that learning a language will make you forget your first one. I don't really know if these grounds are true but I do know that I often find that I flub up my first language find the need to translate what my mind is thinking in Chinese. They say that taking a break from study causes the language that you are learning to settle into the grooves of your brain and that you are smarter and more fluent in it when you return. Stay tuned for the truth in this situation

Kimberli Kerkstra Reporting to you for the warm and sunny streets of Thailand.

Wow! 3 entries in one day.

Graduation

These pictures are a little old but it gives you an idea. We have a "graduation" ceremony every 4 weeks and the students are awarded for passing from one level into the next one.

Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year celebrations came a little bit late for me this year. Instead of celebrating on the exact day, the Chinese Association of West Michigan planned a festival for the area last week Saturday. I didn't think I would be able to go, but my friend Melissa had an extra ticket.

festival 3

These are a few of the ladies that I sometimes hang out with. Funny how we all have China connections.

festival 2 festival 1

There were so many people there. I saw my friend Xiao Hong there. The line for the Chinese meal that was included wrapped around the entire room and just kept going. The performance following was sold out.

festival 5 festival 6

I mentioned as the performance began how I felt like I was back in China again. The costumes were colorful and beautiful and the language was music to my ears. Even though Chinese performances can sometimes be very long and often loud, I enjoyed this performance completely. My favorite part was a Gong Fu demonstration.

It was quality!
